2006-2007: Visting Fellow on the Reuters Digital Vision Program at Stanford University
2008: Named Pop!Tech Social Innovation Fellow
2009: Named Laureate of the Tech Awards, an international awards program that honors innovators from around the world who are applying technology to benefit humanity
2010: Named a National Geographic Emerging Explorer, a program that recognizes and supports gifted and inspiring explorers who are already making a difference early in their careers. Since this award Ken and FrontlineSMS have been running a regular National Geographic blog series, called Mobile Message.
2011: Named an Ashoka Fellow
2011: Won the Pizzigati Prize for software in the public interest.
