That’s where you come in.
Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who’s interested in joining a rapidly growing Kenyan operation. You will manage our team office and large chunks of our finances. You’re a details person that takes pride in rolling your sleeves up, whether that’s in a spreadsheet, a contract, or a complaint to an Internet provider. You also like the bigger picture looking for insight and input into financial projections, modeling, and account management.
You are probably already employed in some similar role running or working with operations and feeding into the bookkeeping work, or you’ve had a career break and looking to come back into things. Or you’re heavily involved in finance and want to stretch your legs a bit into other activities. You might be looking to reduce the number of hours you’re working and looking for a permanent part time arrangement. If so, then this is the team and the role for you.
What you’ll do
You will naturally make this position your own, but some of the regular things we think you’ll handle:
Bookkeeping support to the CEO and financial processes
Working closely with the COO in creating, optimising and culling company tasks
Understanding team needs and communicating them to the company
‘Keeping the trains running on time’ with day-to-day oversight on all things operational
Managing the Kenyan company payroll
Support the management team with HR issues
Nurturing and contributing to a healthy team integration
Running the local banking adminstration
Keeping on top of insurance policy renewals, the KRA and other such regular company requirements
You think effective companies are made of people who understand what everyone else is doing; you’ll help to build a team culture where boundaries between teams such as tech and marketing are broken down by constant communication and mutual interest
Many years of working in a professional office environment. It could be 4, it could be 40, we don’t have a number, but this isn’t your first job as a new graduate. Sorry graduates.
Experience running basic financial processes such as bookkeeping and digital accounting tools.
An understanding of what it takes to run a company in Kenya
Experience in HR related matters, even if informally, such as managing staff leave for the team, arranging benefits and ensuring someone is around to observe & listen to catch areas that need improvement
You’re Kenyan or if not you are eligible to live and work in Kenya
