Frontline Beta Products

The products below represent our beta releases for desktop – early prototypes of software that we make available for use and testing, but which aren’t final releases. Releasing these products as ‘beta’ means they are still currently in a testing stage of development; they are not finished products and may contain bugs. We therefore cannot take responsibility for loss of data or malfunction and we are only able to provide limited user support and resources. Our hope is that you'll try and these products and let us know what improvements you'd like to see in the next versions, which we're currently working to build into FrontlineSMS v2 and FrontlineCloud. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or want to be involved in building the next generation of Frontline products, get in touch!

PaymentView

The first product from FrontlineSMS:Credit, PaymentView, is a software application that allows users to send, receive, and manage mobile money transactions using a laptop and a GSM modem. Our goal is to make it easier for organizations to get started using mobile money in their work, decreasing operational expenses and increasing efficiency. Most mobile payment systems still have limited tools, PaymentView tracks all sent and received payments, enables you to send group payments, and provides access to real-time financial data about transactions. You can analyze finances in the system or easily export data as a .csv file for financial reporting or further analysis. In addition, PaymentView helps you to manage short-term credit, installment payment plans, or accounts receivable. At present, PaymentView is not a full release, but a ‘beta’ release, which means – as outlined above – it is in a testing stage of development. We are currently seeking organizations that might want to partner with us to test the software in real-life situations (we’re focusing on Kenya). PaymentView is currently built on Version 1 of FrontlineSMS, but will be extended onto FrontlineSMS Version 2 in future. Please contact us or send an email to info@frontlinesms.com for more information. If you need support with PaymentView visit our community support forum. Download PaymentView.

FrontlineSMS:Learn

FrontlineSMS:Learn is a version of the FrontlineSMS platform that uses SMS to provide learning and evaluation support to educators and development programs all over the world. The FrontlineSMS team, in partnership with the USAID-sponsored SHOPS Project implemented by Abt. AssociatesJhpiego, and Marie Stopes International, designed this tool to help local schools, trainers, and educators increase knowledge retention, facilitate long-term changes in behavior, and, ultimately, improve the quality of education and training in the last mile. Please note, however, that the FrontlineSMS:Learn product is a beta version, and not a full release. This means that the software is relatively stable, but not fully tested at scale and may contain a few bugs. At this stage, we are hoping that users will download and test FrontlineSMS:Learn, finding new and interesting ways to improve, break, and help us finalize the software in advance of a complete release. It is important that users understand that we cannot take responsibility for loss of data or malfunction, and we are only able to provide limited user support and resources at this time. FrontlineSMS:Learn is currently built on Version 1 of FrontlineSMS, but will be extended onto FrontlineSMS Version 2 in future. We do appreciate any feedback you have on the software, which we’re hoping you’ll email to info@frontlinesms.com along with any other questions or concerns. FrontlineSMS: Radio

FrontlineSMS:Radio is a desktop application designed to support community radio stations in their efforts to interact dynamically with audiences by harnessing the power of SMS. Radio is the dominant media source for many communities worldwide, and SMS is increasingly being used by radio stations to facilitate two-way communication with listeners. :Radio is free and open source, built on the core technology of FrontlineSMS Version 2. Once  a community radio station has the application, they need only a laptop and a mobile phone or GSM modem to get started. The :Radio tools aim to capture, organize and smartly represent incoming data from listeners live in real time. Tools like word clouds and timed message slots to match incoming messages with radio shows make it easier for stations to manage their message content. Eventually, we plan to extend this same functionality to FrontlineCloud to expand the organizations with access to these tools. To get a copy of FrontlineSMS:Radio, please contact us. If you need support with FrontlineSMS:Radio, please visit our community support forum.
