How do I connect my phone or modem to my computer?

Once you launch FrontlineSMS, it will start a set-up process to scan your computer for phones or modems that can be used to send or receive messages. You should go to the Phones tab in FrontlineSMS to see this scanning taking place. FrontlineSMS can work with multiple phones, so you can connect as many devices as you have ports.

Once a phone is detected, FrontlineSMS tries to connect with it to determine::

·       The communication speed between the computer and the device

·       What make and model the device is

·       What mobile number is in use on the SIM card in the phone

·       The phone’s serial number

To avoid failing to set up your device, do not plug in or disconnect any of your phones while this is in process.

Upon successful completion of the set-up, you will see your phone or modem in the Working devices window.

If you are using a Mac, you may need to check an additional setting.

1.     Open FrontlineSMS from the Apps folder, from the menu, click File, Get Info.

2.     In the General tab, select the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox.

3.     To confirm that the setting has been changed and that your device has been registered by the modem software, shut down FrontlineSMS and the modem, restart the modem, allow the device manager to start up, shut that down, and then try opening FrontlineSMS again.
