What should I do if I have problems sending or receiving messages?

Ensure the device you are using is connected in the phones tab. If it is connected, you should also check that you have your phone set to send and receive messages by right clicking on the phone or modem which is connected. A dialogue box should appear, and you need to make sure that you selected to both ‘Use this phone for sending’ and ‘Use this phone for receiving’.

If you are having problems sending messages then follow these steps:

1.     Check that no other software is running on your computer that might prevent FrontlineSMS from sending messages.

2.     Ensure that you have credit on your SIM card.

3.     Enter the contact numbers that you are sending messages to in full international format, with + <country code>

If you are having problems receiving messages check your phone to ensure that you do not have a full inbox or sent box, etc., to allow new messages to arrive. By default, FrontlineSMS deletes messages from the SIM card to ensure that new incoming messages are received. This functionality may not work if FrontlineSMS is being run concurrently with another software that accesses the modem.

In addition, since FrontlineSMS has other functionality than a basic SMS application, you may notice that the deletion of messages may be slower than you might expect. To avoid interfering with the deletion of messages, do not run FrontlineSMS concurrently with any other modem software.

If all the messages have not yet been uploaded to FrontlineSMS, you may have to manually delete messages. To manually delete messages, follow these steps:
1. Start with the oldest first.
2. If you have a spare SIM card, use this in the phone while you do the deletions, so that no new messages come through until the space is freed up.
3. Once you are finished, you can put the original SIM card back and then reconnect with FrontlineSMS to start receiving the new messages.

Note: If there is no other modem software running concurrently with FrontlineSMS, this issue may be that result of a bug. Report the issue on our user support forum and if requested, send us your logs.
